Glassdome Achieves SOC 2 Type 1 Data Security Certification
By John WrightNew certification demonstrates commitment to data security, availability, and privacy
Vancouver, Wash.: Glassdome, a leading sustainability platform for manufacturers, has achieved Systems and Organizations Controls 2 (SOC 2) Type 1 certification from auditor Thoropass, the company announced on June 5th, 2024.
The SOC 2 security framework, developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), provides auditors with guidance on evaluating the effectiveness of organizations’ security protocols. Specifically, it covers how companies should handle customer data that’s stored in the cloud. It establishes trust between service providers like Glassdome that handle sensitive data and their customers.
With the Glassdome Product Carbon Footprint platform, manufacturers and suppliers upload their primary data to a secure cloud database. Glassdome then performs the necessary PCF data collection and calculations, and reports back the final results. The security of the cloud platform ensures that sensitive data is protected and only the data directly relevant to the report is shared between value chain partners.
The SOC 2 framework is built around five criteria:
- Security: Protecting information from unauthorized access
- Availability: Ensuring employees and clients can rely on systems to perform their work
- Processing Integrity: Verifying that company systems operate as intended
- Confidentiality: Protecting confidential information by limiting its access, storage, and use
- Privacy: Safeguarding sensitive information against unauthorized users
Glassdome Co-Founder & CEO Simon Kim commented, “Glassdome’s ability to collect and use real data is a key differentiator for our platform. We take the responsibility of handling proprietary customer information very seriously. Achieving SOC 2 certification helps demonstrate that customers and their suppliers can trust us to handle their data with discretion.”
He added, “This trust allows us to deliver the Product Carbon Footprint calculations that manufacturers need for regulations like CBAM, the EU Battery Directive, and more. On top of our recent ISO 14067 verification, this is another sign that our platform is built to the most rigorous enterprise standards.”
