Glassdome’s VP, Jinki Ham, Announces the Launch of the World’s First Real Data-Based Carbon Footprint Solution
By GlassdomeSeoul, South Korea (May 11, 2023) – “We have launched the world’s first carbon footprint management solution that relies on actual, primary data,” announced Jinki Ham, Vice President of Glassdome, during a recent interview with a reporter. Glassdome, known for developing Product Environmental Footprint solutions, is gaining attention as global governments intensify carbon emissions regulations in response to climate change.
Ham explained the traditional challenges in carbon footprint calculation: “Typically, data from parts suppliers, who contribute to 80% of large corporations’ total carbon footprint, is used. This process requires suppliers to share sensitive data like cost, production and quality, often leading to reluctance in participation.”
Alternatively, Glassdome Product Environmental Footprint solution ensures the secure transfer of only carbon footprint calculations to the export company, preventing the leakage of sensitive data between the main contractor and partner company.
This approach ensures that sensitive partner data remains secure while accurately calculating and transmitting only the carbon footprint data to exporting companies. “Our method guarantees that the basic data for carbon footprint calculations is not disclosed to exporting companies, offering a more precise and reliable alternative to the traditionally inaccurate methods,” Ham added.
The company achieves accurate carbon footprints by installing various measuring instruments and sensors in its partner companies’ parts manufacturing processes. Glassdome’s expertise in this field stems from its work since 2019 in the digital transformation (DX) of manufacturing companies across sectors like food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and petrochemicals. The company specializes in ensuring quality uniformity in food production and data integrity in pharmaceuticals.
Glassdome, founded in Silicon Valley in 2019 by CEO Simon Dae-oong Kim, is expanding its reach. “Having demonstrated our efficiency in the battery sector, we plan to venture into global manufacturing industries such as steel, aluminum, automobiles, home appliances, and petrochemicals,” Ham stated. This expansion has garnered significant investor interest, evidenced by Glassdome’s recent successful $8.6 million Series A funding round.
With elaborate environmental regulation roadmaps being developed by entities like the EU and the U.S., the importance of accurate carbon footprint data is escalating. “From the end of 2024, the battery sector must disclose carbon footprint information,” Ham emphasized, underscoring the necessity of real data-based solutions for maintaining competitiveness in key industries like battery manufacturing. Through its collaboration with global battery companies, Glassdome is at the forefront of developing such solutions.
