Glassdome and SK C&C Unite to Forge a Carbon Neutrality Realization Platform
By GlassdomeSeoul, South Korea (May 24, 2023) – Glassdome, in collaboration with SK C&C, has announced the formation of a carbon neutrality realization platform for industry. The announcement was made on May 24th, following the signing of a business agreement among the three companies.
The ceremonial signing, which took place at SK-u Tower in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, saw attendance from notable business leaders including Jinki Ham, Vice President of Glassdome and Jun Park, Director of SK C&C Digital Tech Center.
This initiative is a response to global carbon emissions regulations and aims to assist domestic companies in complying with these rules. The collaboration will lead to the development of a ‘digital net zero platform,’ designed to efficiently manage Scope 3 product carbon footprint data, aligning with the global trend of carbon emissions regulation.
The platform will address different scopes of carbon emissions: Scope 1 focuses on direct emissions during manufacturing, Scope 2 covers indirect emissions like electricity and heating used in manufacturing, and Scope 3 – mandated by the EU and other countries – targets emissions throughout the entire product lifecycle. This includes the mining and transportation of raw materials, logistics of delivering products to customers, and the use and disposal of products by end users.
The partnership will integrate Glassdome Product Environmental Footprint solution and SK C&C’s expertise in ESG consulting to provide a comprehensive carbon emission management service. Glassdome Product Environmental Footprint solution, showcased at the Hanover Fair in Germany, goes beyond Scopes 1 and 2, incorporating Scope 3 partner data based on actual values rather than industry averages.
Future developments include advanced SaaS services featuring AI and big data analysis for greenhouse gas emissions prediction, further enhancing the digital net zero platform. This advancement aims to simplify and expedite the process for companies to collect, analyze, and forecast greenhouse gas emissions data in their business value chain, aligning with export regulation situations and market demands.
Jinki Ham of Glassdome emphasized the use of advanced technology based on actual data to address PCF and CBAM supply chain carbon management challenges faced by global companies. He highlighted the collaboration with SK C&C’s digital net zero technology as a step towards accelerating ESG management and bolstering the export competitiveness of manufacturing firms.
Jun Park of SK C&C Digital Tech Center pointed out the increasing interest of domestic companies in carbon reduction ahead of the global mandatory disclosure system scheduled for 2025. He affirmed that the Net Zero service will assist domestic companies, including exporters, in navigating the evolving landscape of global environmental regulations.
